Supporting the Needs of Individuals of All Ages
Boys and Girls Home and Family Services offers a variety of outpatient programs. These services meet the needs of children, adolescents, adults, families and elderly individuals. The one common thread found throughout the various outpatient programs is the agency's commitment to providing the support and guidance necessary to help individuals and families build healthy and positive futures for themselves.
Outpatient programs provide a broad spectrum of services including:
Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program - The Adolescent Partial Hospitalization program provides treatment to adolescents ages 13-18 who are experiencing significant behavioral, emotional or adjustment problems. The program requires weekly family therapy to maximize outcomes.
This program provides a therapeutic treatment approach designed for youth who need the structure and support of a comprehensive psychiatric program, but do not require 24-hour residential care. The program is utilized as either an alternative to out-of-home placement when traditional outpatient services are not sufficient, or as a transition following inpatient hospitalization.
In-Home Services - In-Home Family Therapy provides counseling and education services to assist families and children in restoring positive family relationships and working to avoid out-of-home placement.
Iowa Aftercare Network - The Iowa Aftercare Network addresses the needs of youth who are between the ages of 18 and 21. These individuals are too old for foster care, residential treatment or shelter care, but who would benefit from additional support to learn to live an independent, healthy, and self-sufficient life.
Community Based Programs - Early intervention is the key to helping at-risk youth and families avoid more intensive treatment and placement for services. A variety of programs are offered to address specific issues. These include: Diversion, Tracking, Electronic Monitoring, After School, Bilingual Services and School Interventionists programming.
Outpatient Counseling - The outpatient counseling program at BGHFS provides the Siouxland community with services for individuals of all ages seeking to overcome problems interfering with their lives. These problems may be recovering from the trauma of abuse, coping with life changes such as divorce or remarriage and rebuilding life after loss of a loved one. Assistance is provided in a variety of settings including individual, group, couple, and family counseling. An extensive sexual abuse treatment program is available and deals with all aspects of sexual abuse for children and adults.
