An Educational Setting Where All Students Can Succeed

The education program at Boys and Girls Home and Family Services is based on the belief that any student can be successful if the environment and instruction are conducive to providing opportunities for achievement. A high percentage of students who receive instruction at Boys and Girls Home are those who have consistently failed educationally. At Boys and Girls Home they meet positive role models, develop healthy study habits, and begin to experience success in the smallest of incidence which will renew their commitment to education.

All youth in residential treatment programs continue their education at Boys and Girls Home and Family Services, Inc. In addtion, the agency operates an interim education program in conjunction with several school districts in Iowa.

Interim Education Program - The Interim Education Program is a state-approved program designed to accommodate children with learning difficulties as well as students struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Students served are from local school districts and need a more intensive education setting, but are still able to live at home with their families.

Faculty consists of certified educators and trained counselors who use a variety of intake assessments to develop an education program for each child that will meet their individual needs and abilities. The education program also utilizes a social and emotional learning curriculum that compliments the residential program in order to coordinate more effectively each child’s treatment plan.
